EDMUND BASSEY EKANEM

Implementation Lead GIS/LIS

Edmund Bassey Ekanem is an accomplished GIS professional with extensive experience as an Implementation Lead in GIS/LIS projects. He excels in spatial data analysis, database development, and application development. With a strong track record of successfully delivering projects, Edmund combines technical expertise with effective communication and leadership skills.

In his role as a GIS Specialist at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Edmund provided support for spatial data collection, cleaning, and quality assurance, ensuring accurate and reliable data for project states. He developed geospatial databases, including an Economic Empowerment Pillar database and a resource tracking dashboard. Edmund utilized satellite remote sensing to monitor changes in project locations and developed custom GIS applications and visualizations. He played a key role in coordinating activities under the Peace Building Project and delivered training programs on digital technologies.

As a Cartographer/GIS Officer (Supervisor) at GIS Transport Limited, Edmund implemented quality control measures for map production and developed customized map symbols and standardized templates. He provided GIS refresher training and automated workflows through python scripting. Edmund supported external town planning consultants with spatial data transformation.

At the Cross River Geographic Information Agency (CRGIA), Edmund led citywide mapping projects, provided technical support for software and databases, and produced monthly maps for public display. He achieved significant milestones in the Systematic Land Titling and Registration pilot project.

Edmund holds a Bachelor of Science in Geography and Planning and an Ordinary National Diploma in Estate Management. He is pursuing an MSc in Data Science and continually enhances his skills through workshops and online courses. Edmund has a Certificate of Participation from the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations for his work in land monitoring.
